Forecast, radar, detector and nowcasting

A classic weather forecast usually looks further ahead. A weather radar shows precipitation structures and atmospheric phenomena at a larger scale. A lightning detector registers storm activity. Nowcasting focuses on the very short horizon and the current weather state in a local context.

How does this fit Planetnik?

StormNode collects data from a specific location: lightning detections, sky photos, temperature, humidity, pressure, GNSS/GPS and device diagnostics. A network of such nodes can support local nowcasting: assessing whether nearby conditions begin to indicate storm activity or a significant weather change.

Why do clusters matter?

One node is a local observation point. Several synchronized StormNodes can help compare events, combine them with telemetry and distinguish local signal from disturbances. Correlation and synchronization details remain part of ongoing development.

What do we not promise?

Planetnik is not an official warning system and does not replace meteorological alerts. It is an additional local observation layer that may help notice a change in weather conditions earlier in a specific area.
