Join the StormNode pilot network
We are building the first experimental Planetnik network. Its purpose is to evaluate how StormNode prototypes operate in different locations, how they behave as a cluster, and how effectively storm events can be compared and correlated.
What is the pilot?
Selected participants will receive a StormNode prototype for an agreed location. The device will operate continuously and send telemetry, lightning-related events, photos and diagnostic information to Planetnik infrastructure.
This is an experimental research-and-development stage. A pilot StormNode is not an official warning device and does not replace meteorological alerts.
Who are we looking for?
People who can provide a stable place for a prototype and participate in longer-term testing.
- urban and suburban residents,
- people with countryside or open-area locations,
- balconies, terraces, upper floors, gardens and plots,
- people interested in storms, weather, electronics or citizen science.
What will we test?
- device stability in different environments,
- local electrical and electronic noise,
- comparison of detections between nodes,
- timing and correlation of storm events,
- photo, telemetry and data-transfer quality,
- practical operation of the first StormNode clusters.
What kind of location do we need?
Installation place
A balcony, terrace, upper floor, garden, plot or open area with a safe and stable mounting option.
Low interference
The surroundings should have relatively low electrical and electronic noise. Each location will be assessed individually.
Power and Wi-Fi 24/7
Continuous power and a stable Wi-Fi connection are required for regular data transmission.
What do participants receive?
StormNode prototype
A device prepared for the pilot and installation at the agreed location.
Data access
Access to selected current and historical data from StormNode devices and the developing Planetnik network.
First-cluster participation
A real opportunity to co-create the project and influence future hardware and software versions.

Contact us with: your town or approximate area, location type, floor or installation height, power availability, Wi-Fi access and a short description of the surroundings.
Submission does not guarantee selection. We want a geographically and environmentally diverse network, so locations will be selected in stages.
